There is no organized body to distribute project updates and information to all property owners.

And so there is no easy or other way for AtoA folks to stay on top of the project. Please consider signing up for AtoA updates.

Project Summary

The Arctic To Aurora undergrounding project area was initially bounded by Arctic Blvd to west, 19th Ave to the north, Aurora Dr to the east, and 22nd Ave to the south. The project area originally included 94 residential properties.

In December 2022, Chugach Electric Association (CEA) downsized the project to just 20 properties.

You can read more about it in the current 5-year undergrounding plan by CEA.

What did MLP think about the overhead electrical infrastructure in AtoA?

Due to age of existing facilities, potential safety conflicts, and public involvement, the Arctic To Aurora (AtoA) undergrounding project was rated “very high” by MLP.

In 2014 and 2015, AtoA was the only new project added to MLP’s annually-updated 5-year undergrounding plan, from a competitive list of dozens of potential projects.

It’s my hope that, if nothing else, AtoA property owners will sign up to receive email communications about Arctic To Aurora. As of the end of 2020, CEA still didn’t have a master list of property owners. There is no organized body to distribute project updates and information to every property owner – so there is no other way for AtoA folks to stay on top of the project.

For the time being, the ArcticToAurora.org email list will be limited to confirmed property owners and residents of AtoA. For property owners who do not reside at their AtoA property, I ask for your mailing address to confirm your ownership (by comparing with Muni property records).

At no time will your information be shared without your consent, or used for anything other than AtoA concerns.
